Binsar Zero point is inside the Binsar wild life sanctuary which is is 30 km north on Almora – Bageshwar high way at an altitude of 2416 meters in kumaon Uttarakhand.
Zero point is a point where one old tower was raised to see the clear view of nearby places. Now it became very famous among the tourists who visit this sanctuary.
It is famous for its wild life, different types of flora and fauna like herbs, flowers, and some endangered species of animal and plants.
Get in from the gate after paying 150 rupees charger and 250 rupees for the vehicle.
Few hotels are also there inside the sanctuary and good to book them before coming here. There is no any electric supply and all hotels uses solar power there at night. Binsar wild life sanctuary with your family and friends which is protected area.
This wild life sanctuary is covered to the oak, Rhododendron, pine trees hosting 200 species of the animals and migratory bird there.
If the sky is clear this point gives you the 360° view of the panoramic Himalaya.
The panoramic view of majestic Himalayan mountain peaks- Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghungat ,kedarnath,Chaukhamba,Trishul, Panchachuli and Mt Nampa of Nepal can be explored from Binsar Zero point (Jhanda Dhar).
It is probably the topmost place in Binsar Wild life sanctuary for which people want to trek this place which is 2km from hotels which are inside the sanctuary.
Wild bear, tiger, Muskdeer, Goral, Jungle cat, red Langoor, Flying squirrel, chital, Himalayan black bear can be seen at Binsar. Several animal among them are in ICUN data list means in danger zone.
Binsar sanctuary was established in the year of 1988 for the preservation of the oak trees.
Earlier it was the property of the Chand rulers from who ruled Kumon region from 11-18 century.
Binsar zero point is 30 km from Almora and 2 km trek from sanctuary. If you are coming from Delhi the Binsar valley distance will be 410 km via road. Other options are train till kathgodam(390km) and Pantnagar airport.
