Maa Nanda temple is in the heart of the Almora city . The temple is closele relationship with the chand dynasty ruler.

Ma Nanda was built by the Chand raja (ruler).

They ruled here from 11 to 18 century. They started worshipping as a protector of the their dynasty.e

• The temple is about 1000 years old.
• It has 400 years history of worshiping.
• Baj Bahadur who was the Chand ruler brought ma Nanda idol in 1670 from Bandhav garha to his palace Malla mahal. During the British time commissioner George William shifted the temple at present site.
• Every year on the Nanda Ashtami festival the whole Almora city becomes spiritual shouting  Jai Nanda mayyia and showing their strong faith and cultural bonding  with The goddes Nanda Devi.
